An IVF journey does not start on the day of the first injection, but months earlier. Eggs and sperm cells mature for about three months — what you do in that period counts. This guide lists what genuinely helps, without talking you into guilt.

The egg that will be retrieved and the sperm cells that will be used start their maturation about three months earlier. Lifestyle changes therefore need time to take effect — where possible, start three months before treatment.
Quitting smoking — for both partners — is the single biggest step you can take. Beyond that: limit alcohol, aim for a healthy weight and eat a varied diet. For the woman, the standard advice when trying to conceive applies: daily folic acid, starting before the treatment. Always discuss additional supplements with the doctor — more is not automatically better.
'Just relax and it will happen' is one of the most painful things couples get told — and it isn't true either: stress does not cause infertility. But less stress does make the journey more bearable. Many of our patients actually find being treated away from home — without calendars, work and well-meant questions — unexpectedly calming.
Make sure your medical file is complete (previous treatments, results, medication), apply for any insurance authorisation in time — we help with that — and plan your work generously around the treatment period. The more complete your file, the more precise the treatment plan the medical team can draw up.
This guide is general information, not personal medical advice. Submit your file free of obligation — the medical team reviews it and you hear from us within 7 working days.
