Nobody starts IVF with this chapter in mind. Yet some attempts end without a pregnancy — and that is exactly when the quality of your guidance shows. This guide is honest about disappointment, about what can be learned medically, and about the roads that remain open.

A negative test after an IVF attempt is, for many couples, a moment of grief — not a 'setback'. It is allowed to be. Give yourself time to process it before thinking about next steps, and know that we call after a bad result too — not only with good news.
Every attempt produces information: how did the ovaries respond to stimulation, how many eggs were mature, how did fertilisation go, how did the embryos develop? The medical team analyses that whole course and adjusts the plan: a different stimulation protocol, a different fertilisation technique (such as AOA after low fertilisation), or additional testing such as PGT-A after repeated implantation failure. Medically, a failed attempt is never 'nothing' — it is the basis for a better plan.
If embryos were frozen during the earlier attempt, a next attempt can often be done through a cryotransfer: placing a thawed embryo, without new hormone stimulation and without a new retrieval. That is gentler on the body, considerably cheaper (€ 800), and requires only a short stay in Istanbul.
There is no formula for the right number of attempts. Age, diagnosis, embryo quality and — just as important — your own resilience all weigh in. A good guide also helps you with the question of whether continuing is wise, and says it honestly when the chances have become small. Stopping is not failing; it is a decision that takes as much courage as continuing.
Among our patient stories you will also find couples for whom it did not work the first time — or at all — and who valued the guidance precisely because of it. Whatever your situation: you can always call or message us to calmly go through the options.
