EmbryoScope

The EmbryoScope is an advanced incubator that continuously captures your embryos' growth using time-lapse photography — without ever removing them from their protected environment.

The EmbryoScope time-lapse incubator

What is the EmbryoScope?

In a classic IVF laboratory, embryos are briefly removed from the incubator daily to be assessed under a microscope. Every interruption means a change in temperature, light and air composition.

The EmbryoScope combines an incubator with a built-in camera that photographs each embryo every few minutes. This creates a continuous time-lapse film of the entire development — from fertilisation to blastocyst — while the embryos remain undisturbed in their optimal environment.

Why is that better?

  • Undisturbed development — the embryos never leave their protected environment.
  • Far more information — the team sees not just how an embryo looks at fixed moments, but the exact timing and pattern of every cell division. Abnormal division patterns that stay invisible in snapshots stand out immediately.
  • Better selection — the embryo with the most favourable development pattern is selected for transfer.

Who is the EmbryoScope valuable for?

The EmbryoScope holds up to 72 embryos and is especially valuable for couples with multiple embryos (where selection genuinely has something to choose from) and for couples with recurrent implantation failure, for whom sharper selection can make the difference.

Frequently asked questions about the EmbryoScope

Will I be kept informed of the development?

Yes. The laboratory informs you during the culture days about how your embryos are developing — many of our patients call this one of the nicest differences compared to their previous experiences.

Is the EmbryoScope the same as PGT-A?

No. The EmbryoScope assesses development (morphokinetics) without touching the embryo; PGT-A examines the chromosomes via a biopsy. The techniques can complement each other.
